Herald Towers – 50 W 34th St, New York, NY 10001
Built in 1912, Herald Towers was the largest hotel in the world, with a Turkish bath, its own orchestra, and more telephones than any other building. Hall of Fame baseball player Jackie Robinson even called the hotel home when he was an All-Star second baseman for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
A lot has changed on that corner in Herald Square since Robinson’s days, but this pre-Empire State Building property is still one of the neighborhood’s most recognizable landmarks. Today, Herald Towers is a 700-unit apartment building with spacious residences made modern for today’s New Yorker.
What we did
- Installed a new 363 feet tall 42-in diameter 316 stainless steel chimney Liner.
- The boilers remained operational during installation of Liner and no temporary boiler employed.
- Installed a new double-wall 42-in diameter breeching for two (2) Rockmills 700 boilers.
